A South West wedding might mean a honey-coloured manor in the Cotswolds, a Georgian townhouse in Bath, a converted barn on a Somerset farm or a coastal hotel looking out over the Atlantic in Cornwall.
The region is a major holiday destination, so summer weekends near the coast fill early and guest accommodation competes with tourists. Many couples book their venue a year or more ahead for peak dates. Spring and early autumn can be a good compromise, with milder weather and more availability.
The M5 runs down the spine of the region and Bristol Airport serves guests flying in, but distances are long. A venue deep in west Cornwall can be several hours from Bristol, so think about who is travelling and whether to suggest guests make a weekend of it.
For a civil ceremony on site, the venue must be approved premises, and you will give notice at your local register office. Confirm the details with that register office.
Wedding UK currently lists 18 wedding venues covering South West.
You can also browse Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol and Dorset.
