Light changes quickly in the South West. Sea mist can roll in off the Cornish coast in the morning and burn away by the afternoon, while Dartmoor and Exmoor can swing from bright sunshine to low cloud in an hour. A photographer who regularly works here will know how to plan around that, and will usually have a wet-weather plan ready.
Couples marrying on the coast often ask for portraits on the beach or clifftops. If that matters to you, ask your photographer about sunset times for your date and how far the best spots are from your venue, because some coastal paths are a walk rather than a quick hop. In Bath and Bristol, city streets and architecture give a different feel, with plenty of shelter if the weather turns.
Summer Saturdays are the busiest time for photographers across the region, and many book up well over a year in advance for popular dates. If you are flexible, a Friday or an autumn wedding often gives more choice.
Prices vary with the day, season and hours of coverage.
