Relaxed, experienced and professional approach
Bristol's venues tend to fall into two groups. In the city there are converted warehouses and sheds around the harbourside, grand Georgian rooms in Clifton within sight of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and hotels and restaurants that suit smaller or more relaxed weddings. Outside the city, a short drive takes you to country houses, barns and estates in the surrounding countryside, towards the Mendips, the Cotswolds edge or the coast at Portishead.
Rural venues within easy reach of Bristol are popular, and peak summer Saturdays are often taken a long time in advance. City venues can be more flexible, especially for midweek or winter dates. Prices vary with the day of the week and season, so ask each venue for a clear list of what is included, such as furniture, staffing and late licences.
Bristol Temple Meads has direct trains from London and Wales, Bristol Airport is south of the city, and the M4 and M5 meet just to the north. For countryside venues, consider shuttle transport, as country lanes and limited taxis can make the end of the night tricky.
For a civil ceremony in England, the venue must be approved premises or you marry at a register office. Give notice at your local register office.
Wedding UK currently lists 15 wedding venues covering Bristol, with 12 based within 10 miles.
You can also browse Kingswood, Mangotsfield, Nailsea, Portishead, Yate and Chipping Sodbury.
