Newcastle's Quayside, with its row of bridges over the Tyne, is one of the most recognisable views in the north of England, and it is a big draw for couples wanting a city wedding with real character. The centre of Newcastle also has elegant Georgian streets such as Grey Street, along with hotels, converted warehouses and modern venues. Across the river, Gateshead adds riverside spaces and views back towards the city.

Tyne and Wear is more than Newcastle, though. Sunderland sits at the mouth of the River Wear with its own seafront at Roker and Seaburn.
