Private country home for your exclusive wedding celebrations
What sets the East of England apart is space. Wide open farmland, the Norfolk Broads, the Suffolk Heritage Coast and the Fens give many venues a calm, uncrowded feel, while Cambridge offers historic city settings and Essex and Hertfordshire have plenty of country houses and hotels within easy reach of London.
Barn weddings are especially common here. Many farms in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex have converted their agricultural buildings into wedding spaces, often with gardens and meadows for outdoor drinks. Timber-framed halls and moated houses also feature, along with seaside venues on the North Norfolk coast.
The region is reasonably well connected, with rail lines into London, the A14 and A11 crossing it, and Stansted Airport for guests flying in. North Norfolk, though, is a longer journey, which is worth bearing in mind if many guests are travelling.
A civil ceremony needs a register office or approved premises, and notice is given at your local register office. Check the detail with the register office covering your chosen venue.
