Truro is Cornwall's only city, and its cathedral, with three spires, rises above the Georgian streets of the centre. Lemon Street's elegant terraces and the riverside along the Truro River give the city its own character for photographs.
Cornwall's coast is never far away. The creeks and estuary of the River Fal wind south towards Falmouth, and the north coast, with its surf beaches and cliffs, is within easy driving distance. Many couples who marry around Truro plan portraits on a beach or headland.
Cornish weather is changeable, and clifftops and beaches are often windy. A photographer familiar with the area will plan around tides, wind direction and sheltered coves, and keep indoor options ready. Allow time for walking to some beaches.
Summer holidays bring large numbers of visitors, busy roads and full accommodation. Spring and early autumn can be quieter and often bring lovely light. Winter brings shorter days but dramatic seas.
Some coastal land is owned and managed by conservation bodies, and many gardens and estates ask for professional photography to be arranged beforehand. Check with your photographer.
Cornwall is a popular wedding destination, and photographers are often booked well over a year ahead for summer Saturdays.
