Exciting & engaging wedding photography for your special day
Derby sits at the southern end of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, so historic mill buildings and riverside paths are close to hand. Darley Abbey, with its mills and weir on the Derwent, is a popular spot, and the cathedral and city-centre streets offer more formal settings. Markeaton Park gives open lawns and trees.
The Peak District begins a short drive north, with limestone dales, gritstone edges and moorland that suit couples who want dramatic scenery.
Autumn colour in the dales is lovely, and summer brings long evenings. Higher ground can be cold, wet and windy at any time of year, so check footwear and timings with your photographer. Winter daylight is short, which is worth bearing in mind when you set the ceremony time.
Mill sites, estates and land owned by heritage or conservation bodies may ask for professional photography to be arranged in advance. A photographer who works locally will often know the arrangements.
Many photographers cover Derby along with Nottingham, Leicester and the Peak District. Popular summer Saturdays are often booked a year or more ahead. Ask each photographer what they include, such as a second shooter or an engagement session, so you can compare like for like.
Wedding UK currently lists 1 wedding photographers covering Derby, with 1 based within 10 miles.
You can also browse Burton upon Trent, Swadlincote, Nottingham and Coalville.
