Wedding Venues in Edinburgh

With its castle, cobbled Old Town and the Georgian terraces of the New Town, Edinburgh gives couples a historic setting almost wherever they look. Venues include grand hotels, former banks and assembly rooms, private dining spaces and university buildings. Beyond the city, the Lothians add country houses and estates, coastal spots towards Musselburgh and Prestonpans, and views of the Forth bridges from Queensferry.

Because of Scottish law, the choice of ceremony location is unusually wide. Religious and belief ceremonies, such as humanist weddings, can take place almost anywhere, including outdoors, so a hillside with a view of Arthur's Seat or a private garden is possible with the right permissions. Timing matters

August is festival month, when accommodation is very hard to find and expensive, and the city is crowded. Many couples avoid it for that reason. Late spring, early summer and September are popular instead, while winter weddings suit the city's candlelit, historic interiors. Prices vary with the day of the week and season.

Edinburgh Airport is close to the city, and Waverley station has direct trains from London and across Scotland.
