Wedding Photographers in Windsor

With its castle rising above the Thames, Windsor gives couples one of the most recognisable backdrops in England. The Long Walk, stretching in a straight line through Windsor Great Park towards the castle, is a favourite for portraits, and the riverside paths and the bridge across to Eton add more classic views.

The Great Park itself offers open grassland, ancient trees and lakes, giving a countryside feel only minutes from the town.

Visitors and big events

Windsor is busy with tourists throughout the year, and the centre can be crowded at weekends. Royal and ceremonial events, and the race meeting at nearby Ascot in June, can bring large crowds and put pressure on hotels and roads. Check the calendar before you fix your date.

Permissions

Parts of the Great Park and other royal and private land have rules about professional photography, and some locations need permission in advance. Ask your photographer to check any spot you have in mind.

Light and seasons

Morning light along the Long Walk is often quieter and softer, and autumn colour in the Great Park is lovely. Riverside paths can be wet or flooded after heavy rain. In winter, plan outdoor portraits for soon after the ceremony.

Windsor's position near London and Heathrow means many photographers cover it, but popular Saturdays still fill a year or more ahead.
